The community of Horseshoe Bay began 40 years ago.. Located partially in Llano and Burnet counties, Horseshoe Bay’s population is a mere 3,418 according to the 2010 Census. Just because it is a small town doesn’t mean Horseshoe Bay real estate is not a sound investment, as there are plenty of fun things to do and see in addition to a wide range of city services available. Living in Horseshoe Bay allows people to enjoy the feel of resort living, while still being close enough to bigger cities such as Austin that provide lucrative employment opportunities.

Shopping and Dining

Horseshoe Bay’s reputation as a resort town means numerous shopping venues abound. Bayside Fresh Market, a specialty grocery store, provides everyday staples in addition to fresh produce, and take-home entrees. Other shopping opportunities such as GGGanache Home Furnishings,  Bayside Spa and Products, The Bottleshop and Davis Designs to name a few.

Parks and Recreation

One of the reasons why Horseshoe Bay real estate is often sought after is its location directly on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson. This lake covers a surface area of nearly 6,500 acres, allowing plenty of room for boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regularly stocks Lake Lyndon B. Johnson with species such as catfish, largemouth bass, crappie and white bass on a regular basis.

Horseshoe Bay’s only park is older than the city itself. Dedicated in 1993, Martin Park contains a picnic pavilion and playground, which residents of Horseshoe Bay real estate may reserve for special occasions. Aside from the city park, Granite Beach Waterpark provides a way for residents to cool off during the summer months. Horseshoe Bay Resort’s golf course consists of 54 holes among three championship courses, all of which have received national recognition. Owners of Horseshoe Bay real estate enjoy serene living surrounded by luscious green space and abundant nature. As such, it is the perfect place for anyone who longs for a quieter lifestyle. Many homes are located lakeside, and include their own docks and/or boat slips. Others are newer, two-story homes with paved driveways, attached garages and immaculate landscaping. Schools, Health, and Transportation

The Llano Independent School District provides educational opportunities for school-age children residing in Horseshoe Bay real estate. In all, the district operates two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Some students choose to attend one of the area private schools such as St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Marble Falls, which is a mere seven miles away. Parents also have a number of homeschooling resources available, including Texas Hill Country Homeschooolers.

When it comes to higher education, adults find colleges such as Central Texas College and Texas Tech University provide a variety of degree plans and have flexible schedules that meet their needs. Some will even travel to Austin, which is approximately 53 miles away, for more specific culinary or arts training.

For their everyday health care needs, residents of Horseshoe Bay real estate visit the Scott and White Clinic or Baylor Scott & White Health Hospital. Those who need specialized health care may visit the Scott & White Specialty Clinic located in Marble Falls. A short distance away in Burnet, Seton Highland Lakes Hospital provides extended care, and home health care is available through Hill Country Home Health.

Traveling in and around Horseshoe Bay is easy, as residents can access local businesses by car, bicycle or on foot; some waterfront businesses are even accessible by boat. Those traveling longer distances can access Greyhound bus stations in Austin or Round Rock. Air travel is also possible by visiting the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport or the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport.
