Located on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, the town of Sunrise Beach, Texas is known for relatively mild climate all year long, in addition to its peacefulness and magnificent views. Sunrise Beach real estate is highly sought after by people looking for a full-time residence as well as those wanting vacation or retirement property. With a population of around 800 full-time residents, Sunrise Beach has a reputation for being an active small town with a slower pace of living.

Shopping and Dining

Although Sunrise Beach is relatively small, it nonetheless has its own grocery store, T-mart. In addition to groceries, this store also carries plumbing supplies, hardware and fuel. For more extensive shopping, residents tend to visit Marble Falls, a town located approximately 24 miles away. In Marble Falls, shoppers can enjoy visiting stores such as Marble Falls Flowers and Gifts, Lakeside Pawn and Jewelry or Westlake Antiques and Old Book Store.

Two restaurants serve the residents of Sunrise Beach real estate with mouth-watering cuisine. One is Mosca's, an establishment known for its burgers, pizza, and Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Located directly on the water, Boater's Bistro is accessible by boat, and even offers boat-valet service. This establishment offers a variety of menus for lunch and dinner, and also includes a full bar.

Parks and Recreation

Most of the recreation in Sunrise Beach takes place on the water. The shores of Lake Lyndon B. Johnson provide residents with plenty of opportunities to enjoy fishing, boating, birding, nature walks, wildlife photography or water sports. The Sunrise Beach Lawn Chair Brigade, also known as the “beachers”, is a precision drill marching group that regularly participates in local parades. Group members consider themselves “good will ambassadors” for the town of Sunrise Beach, and welcome people from all walks of life to join them.

Living

As a tight-knit community, Sunrise Beach residents know each other well, and take great pride in looking out for one another. This is apparent in the town’s community action organization, which basically amounts to a neighborhood watch program that takes place both on land and on water. This group also holds potluck dinners and cleanup days along the waterfront to help enhance the quality of life for Sunrise Beach residents.

The majority of Sunrise Beach real estate consists of lakefront property. Homes here come in all price ranges, which means that one of the perks of living in Sunrise Beach is the fact that lakefront living is not out of reach financially for many people. Buyers will find homes available in multiple styles, ranging from small cottages to larger, two-story homes with basements and walkout balconies. Since Sunrise Beach is sparsely populated, most properties provide unhindered views and a reasonable amount of privacy.

Schools, Health and Transportation

The Llano Independent School District provides educational opportunities for children in Sunrise Beach. Located approximately 25 miles away, this district operates two elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school. This school district consistently receives high marks for student test scores, the quality of facilities and level of parent-teacher involvement. Students may also travel to Llano to attend Llano Christian Academy, one of the area’s leading private schools.

Residents of Sunrise Beach real estate usually travel to Llano for their routine health needs. The Hill Country Health Care Center is one family clinic that serves patients from Sunrise Beach. The closest hospital is Seton Highland Lakes Hospital located approximately 13 miles away in Burnet.

Surprisingly enough, Sunrise Beach has its own airport for resident use only. This airport is accessible to pilots who reside in Sunrise Beach and fly elsewhere, or partial-year residents who fly in for their stay. For commercial flights, most residents visit the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport located approximately 76 miles away, or the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport that is around 61 miles away in Austin.
